North Bergen Housing Authority Distributing Masks to Every Tenant to Reduce Exposure to COVID-19

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — The North Bergen Housing Authority is distributing masks to every tenant in order to protect them from possible exposure to COVID-19. The Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation and Hudson River Apiary Society partnered with the NBHA to purchase the 1,500 masks, including 100 child masks.

“I am thankful for the generosity of all of the organizations that have donated masks as well as other items to the NBHA,” said NBHA Executive Director Gerald Sanzari. “The community along with NBHA staff have risen to this incredible challenge that we are facing as a result of COVID-19. Our number one goal is to keep our residents safe and healthy and these donations will go a long way towards helping us do that.”

The Nicholas J. Sacco Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that contributes to local charitable organizations and also runs numerous community programs, such as free tax preparation for local seniors and scholarships for North Bergen students.

“Protecting our vulnerable senior population during this COVID-19 crisis is tremendously important,” said North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco. “We appreciate the way that our community has stepped up by donating critical supplies to the NBHA which are currently being distributed to every Housing Authority resident. The township will continue to work closely with NBHA staff to ensure that our seniors are getting everything that they need in order to be safe.”

Backpacks For Life, a local non profit organization also donated 500 masks and 1,500 pairs of socks. Additionally, NB Renaissance Partners contributed donations from businesses throughout the community.
