NORTH BERGEN, NJ – It was announced this week that the Township of North Bergen Housing Authority (NBHA) has been awarded $123,554 by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program.
HUD provides FSS awards to public housing authorities with the strategic goal of increasing economic opportunity for families. The grants support the salaries and training needs of program coordinators who assist participating families receiving housing assistance. Program coordinators connect participating families to resources that will increase their earned income and financial empowerment, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward economic independence and self-sufficiency.“
This funding will benefit families by providing them with the support they need to navigate the complexities of receiving housing assistance. Thank you to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for recognizing the importance of our services to the North Bergen community,” said Gerald Sanzari, Executive Director of the NBHA.
